DRM of the day
I just encountered a new (to me) DRM product that I'd like to articulate here. An ebook package that we're provisioning access to presented me with the following alert:
Following the link I was then presented with more information about what would need to be installed and the aims of DRM.
Interesting to note:
From this read it becomes apparent that the only way to view content on this site is be utilizing Adobe Acrobat and the required Plugin. Built in PDF viewers in Chrome etc will not render the document. The usage limits are clearly articulated, as is a description of why DRM is necessary in the first place.
The website explaining the plugin is well documented and is written with the Sys Admin in mind. Interesting details:
If required by the provider the plugin has an installable component that can stop the host computer from taking screen captures. The plugin is available for every major platform (Windows, Mac, Linux) with the exception of Android, but a verion will be available for download soon.
