Boldly going where I have not going before (Sabbatical Part 8)
Time to write the book...
At the conclusion of last semester I successfully completed the last class I needed to take for my Masters degree. Recaping: I needed to complete 4 classes, Coding Theory was the fourth, I started the program September 2014, with one class a term. I'm partially done my sabbatical and the last remaining task I have is to complete my thesis.
- Coding Theory is a very interesting topic that is virtually un-googlable. The most common example is the Hamming Code. Ie, encoding 4 binary digits into 7 binary digits, with the ability to detect and correct up to one error. Good stuff
- I spent a solid amount of time researching the McEliece Cryptosystem, presenting on the topic, and devoting my final project to implementing a version of it.
- Latex, latex latex. I'm ported my CV to latex
Keep watching this space for more updates on the thesis. In the end my code will be up on gitHub or similar and final thesis will be posted in the repository. I've never written something of such length before and I'm looking forward to the challenge. I have even selected the quote from Cryptonomicon for the title page.
Seriously yo, you gotta read this
