Code4Lib North Strikes Again
Hotel had put-put, not relevant but interesting none the less.
Last week saw the meeting of the code4Lib North community. This time the event was held at Kitchener Public Library. Which is a great space. I had the opportunity to speak twice. Once about @lis_grievances. Which I'll spare the details here but I'm happy to say saw a decent surge in traffic and aired grievances.
That is a solid mid-two digits yo!
I also was able to have some fun and talk about Linux. Slides here:
I used google forms/charts to ask questions of the audience and embed the results in the slides. For the most part it worked without much fussing.
Some other obeservations:
- I need to look into Selenium for screen scraping style stuff and web link checking. Looks a lot more straight forward then B Soup
- Blacklight is a tad finicky to get running
- There is such a thing as Lightning talk momentum
- A game of Talisman takes at least 3 hrs to get interesting
